Bridgelands Rich Historic Past
A neighbourhood with a rich past, Bridgeland is one of the most historically significant areas in Calgary. The first people to settle here were Russian-German immigrants who gave the location its original name of Germantown. However, by the 20th century, the number of Italian and Ukrainian immigrants was significant here. The name of the neighbourhood changed to Bridgeland-Riverside. A portion of it was called Little Italy because of the cluster of Italian restaurants and stores there.
A location that is known for its many amenities, recreation facilities and sports options, Bridgeland is a favoured place for fitness conscious individuals.
