The $10.3 million-dollar building was a part of the city’s housing strategy to make available, affordable rental suites to prospective Calgarians that could not afford the expensive condo-converted homes. The timing was ideal for the builder in a condo market that witnessed a big plummet in the second half of 2007.
Originally christened the White Haven Manor, the Montrez is said to have been constructed way back in the sixties. The six-storey Montrez features a sturdy all-concrete construction with a striking pastel coloured brick cladding that makes it stand apart from the others in the neighbourhood. There is an outdoor parking lot fitted with 13 wide stalls tucked behind the building on the east side. The building houses a total number of 46 spacious condo suites, out of which 21 units located on the front of the building feature spacious balconies. The 25 one-bedroom suites at the back enjoy cute patio slider doors for light and air, but have no balconies.
